Exteriors & Finishes Maintenance

Preserve the beauty and longevity of your tub's materials with these protocols.

1. Wood

i. How to protect: Keep dry and protected from direct sunlight and rain. Ideal placement is under a covered patio or awning. Towel dry after use.

ii. How to clean: Wipe with a clean, damp, lint-free cloth. For polyurea-coated models, use mild dish soap and water.

iii. When to refinish: Apply Tung oil 3 months after delivery, and then every 6 months thereafter to maintain water resistance.

iv. How to refinish:

  1. Sand scuff lightly with 320-grit sandpaper.

  2. Apply Milk Paint Outdoor Defense Oil (Tung Oil) with a lint-free pad.

  3. Let rest 15 minutes, then wipe off excess.

  4. Keep dry for 24-72 hours.

2. Lids

i. How to protect:

Wooden lids are sensitive to pooling water. Always ensure water drains off. Use a weather cover if exposed to elements. Cover should not block the air flow into the vents of the Mechanical space.

ii. How to clean:

Same as the frame: wipe with damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals that strip the oil finish.

iii. When to refinish:

Inspect monthly. Refinish immediately if water stops beading up or wood appears grey/dry.

iv. How to refinish:

Follow the same Tung Oil protocol as the wood frame.

  • Sand with 320-grit.

  • Apply oil generously.

  • Wipe excess after 15 mins.

3. Stainless Steel

i. When to clean: Weekly routine cleaning is recommended to prevent mineral buildup. Deep clean every 6-12 months.

ii. How to clean:

1. Vinegar (Routine)

Mix 50/50 white vinegar and warm water. Spray walls, wait 5 mins, wipe with microfiber.

2. Scotchbrite (Stains)

Use a red Scotchbrite pad for rust spots or organic stains. Gently scrub WITH THE GRAIN of the steel.

3. Sanitization

Wipe down with 3% Hydrogen Peroxide solution to kill bacteria.

4. Galvanized Tub

i. Cleaning with Vinegar

"White rust" (zinc deposits) is common on galvanized steel.

Protocol: Use straight white vinegar on a soft cloth. Scrub gently to remove deposits. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water.

ii. How to Reseal

If the zinc coating is scratched, red rust can form.

Protocol: Clean and dry the area completely. Apply 2-3 coats of Cold Galvanizing Spray (Zinc Rich) to restore protection.
