Wood Requires Care​

All Morozko Forge ice baths are handcrafted from real wood. As an organic building material, wood requires regular cleaning and maintenance to preserve it’s integrity and appearance.

Shelter from the elements

To ensure the longevity of your unit, the wood should be kept clean, dry, and protected from direct sunlight and rain (including water from sprinklers).

 

Ideal placement for your Morozko is under a covered area such as a patio, deck, awning, pergola, gazebo, or beneath a waterproof cover. After each use or following rainfall, towel drying the unit will help prevent standing water from penetrating the wood.

Reapply tung oil​

Regular application of pure tung oil or a tung oil-based protectant will aid in maintaining the wood surface. However, the tung oil only needs to be applied to the frame and does not have to be applied to the side ply. Because the ply is now coated in Polyuera, which completely seals the wood, the only maintenance it should need is to be cleaned with water and dish soap or mild detergent.

Tung Oil for Your Morozko Wood Surfaces

We recommend Milk Paint - Outdoor Defense Oil to touch up the wood
on your Morozko. This tung oil-based protectant is non-toxic, ideal for
exterior applications, and blends the beautiful finish of 100% tung oil
with the natural mold and mildew resistance of pine oil and the UV
protection of zinc.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TUNG OIL APPLICATION

1. Wipe wood surfaces with a clean, damp, lint-free cloth to ensure that the surface is free of debris, and allow it to dry.
    

2. Using a 320 grit sanding pad/sponge, ‘sand scuff’
   the entire unit.
   
   
   
    

3. With a lint-free staining pad or foam brush,
   apply a generous amount of tung oil.
   Allow the oil to rest on the wood no longer than 15 minutes.
   
   
   
    

4. Using a lint-free cloth, wipe the excess oil from the unit.
   Keep the unit dry for 24-72 hours.
   
   
   
    

5. Repeat this process 3 months after delivery and every 6 months thereafter.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
