Controls Maintenance

1. Inkbird Controller

i. How to set Temperature

  • Press and hold the SET button for 7 seconds.

  • The code TS (Temperature Set) will appear.

  • Use the Up/Down arrows to choose your desired target temperature (e.g., 33°F - 50°F).

  • Hold down the set button for 7 seconds to confirm and save the new temperature.

ii. Adjusting CD (Differential)

To prevent the chiller from short-cycling (turning on/off too fast), we set a "Cooling Difference" (CD). This also allows time for the ice to release.

  • Hold SET for 7s to enter menu.

  • Press SET two times or until you see the CD setting.

  • Set value to 3 (degrees).

  • This means if set to 36°F, it cools until 36°F, then waits until water hits 39°F before starting again.

iii. Troubleshooting

Reading "Er"

  • Means there is a probe malfunction. You will need to complete a hard reset.

  • How to Hard Reset: Unplug the ice bath, then plug it back in while holding down the down arrow on the controller. You will know it reset because it will say "25 C" on the screen. Follow the directions below to reprogram.

  • Reprogramming Codes:

    • TS = 34 (Varies, ask customer for their desired temp. 34 is preferred for ice formation/release)

    • Hd = 1 (Heating differential)

    • Cd = 3 (Cold differential)

    • AH = 212 (High temp alarm)

    • AL = -40 (Low temp alarm)

    • Pt = 0 (Delay start compressor, in minutes)

    • CA = -0.5 (Calibrate temp probe to water temp)

    • CF = F (Fahrenheit or Celsius)

    • tr = 0 (Keeps it in manual mode and lets customer change the temp as desired)

Inaccurate Temp

  • If water is slushy but reading says 50°F, turn on filtration to ensure the water is cooling evenly. Using an outside thermometer, compare the temperature to the PV reading on the top of the controller.

Not Cooling

  • Ensure Chiller is plugged into the "COOLING" socket of the Inkbird, not "HEATING".

  • Check settings with the list above.

  • If correct, complete Hard reset. Reprogram and set temperature to 29 degrees. Monitor Performance.

2. Meross Smart Control

i. Link to Wifi

  • Download Meross App.

  • Tap '+' and select Smart Plug.

  • Scan QR code on device.

  • Connect to 2.4GHz Wifi. [Meross Manual]

ii. Set Temperature

For models updated after Feb 2025, Meross handles temperature directly.

  • Open App > Select Device > Settings > Target Temperature.

  • Adjust slider to desired cold level.

iii. 2-Stage Settings (Schedule)

Optimize energy by scheduling "Ice Production" windows.

  • In App, go to Routines.

  • Please refer to the schedule example below, or see page 12 of your Meross manual for setup.

iv. Troubleshooting

  • "No Response": Check Wifi signal. Hold down the "+" and "-" at the same time until the screen shows all 8's.

  • Connection Failed: Ensure phone is on 2.4GHz network, not 5GHz.

3. Filtration Timer

i. How to Set Timer

Proper filtration is key to clear water. Your unit typically has a mechanical timer located inside of the electrical box.

Standard Protocol

  • Set timer to run 4 hours per day. Best time is typically 12:00 AM to 4:00 AM when the tub is unused.

Winter Mode

  • If outdoor temperatures drop below freezing, set timer to ON (24/7) to prevent pipes from freezing by pushing the blue manual button in the lower right corner.
