Temperature & Ice
Managing ice production and winter operation.
1. How to get MORE ice
-
Lower Temp: Decrease the 'SV' on your Inkbird.
-
Add Epsom Salt: 4-6lbs of pure Magnesium Sulfate softens the ice, helping it release from the bottom so new layers can form.
-
Seal Lid: Ensure the gasket is tight. Air leaks kill ice.
2. How to get LESS ice
-
Raise Temp: Increase 'Temperature on Controller
-
Thaw: If Ice is >2" thick, unplug unit for 12-24 hours.
3. Winterization Protocol- Outdoor Temps < 40°F (4°C)
Option 1: Active Mode (Recommended)
-
Set Filtration Timer to ON (Run 24/7). Moving water doesn't freeze easily.
-
Raise Inkbird temp to 40°F.
-
Morozko has a heated filter line to prevent cracking down to 10°F.
Option 2: Shutdown Mode
-
Unplug unit completely.
-
Drain tub fully via bottom valve or sump pump
-
Vacuum water out of filter housing.
-
Remove filter cartridge & leave housing cap loose.
4. Troubleshooting
Water not cooling?
-
Make sure you are in cooling mode (look for the snowflake in the top right corner of meross screen)
-
Feel if the coils are warm to hot
-
Check settings, make sure the meross is set up correctly(Meross instructions)
Ice only on bottom?
This is normal. For our Personal Units the ice is created from the bottom of the tub. If the ice is not floating to the top and is creating abnormally large sheets of Ice, raise the differential by 1 degree. (refer page 5 in meross manual.)
Water colder than the temperature reading?
Check water temperature using an outside thermometer, then Adjust Calibration which can be found in the settings menu on the meross app.
E2 error?
Follow thin white wire to its connection to the probe. Unplug and then plug back in.
